This is not your NOLA.
I’m a sucker for Collector’s Editions DVDs. You know. The ones that have the original movies, maybe an alternate ending, a few goofs, deleted scenes … All those little extras that don’t make it into the final production for various reasons. As I worked on my novel, certain moments and scenes took my interest. “If this were a movie, that would be a great DVD bonus feature.”
Favorite scenes, those a-ha! moments, the struggles, the writer’s block.
This NOLA tells the story as it was originally plotted and written. You’ll find insights and stories-behind-the-story. Notes from mentors and editors. Deleted scenes, and character changes. This NOLA is filled with detours, roadblocks, deconstruction, and rebuilding.
NOLA is the house on a strong foundation. The Author’s NOLA tells the sometimes ill-fated attempts at decorating that house. Now and again, the painting had to be redone. A few doors taken off their hinges. A wall put up or torn down. But in the end, with the help of others, the finished structure is something to be proud of. Something, I hope, to bring a sense of adventure to your reader’s nook.
