NOLA Needs Your Help.

Josie, Rain, and the rest of the Krewe in the NOLAverse are experiencing something wonderful.
If you haven’t yet read across the socials, I’m rewriting NOLA.
Yes, yes. I was working on the sequel. Still am. It is morphing into something better than imagined. But in the process, the characters weren’t connecting in a way that allowed the story to move forward in believable fashion.
So, as Uncle Martin advised, I took it to the beginning. I worked backwards to find out where it went wrong, and started to fix it from there.
I’ve always been in love with NOLA, despite Pierre Beauregard’s claims that it puts him to sleep.
But the book needs more.
For the first edition, I allowed others to speak into the story.
For the second edition, I’m allowing the characters to speak into their story.
The rewrite is more dynamic. There are new sub-settings, more trauma, more insights. New characters. And the superfluous characters have gone away.
All of this allows for a more intensive reader experience.
If you think you know NOLA, you’ll be surprised.
I always say, “Reruns are popular for a reason.” But so are remakes. Different versions of the same story allow a fuller picture, and invite the reader to step deeper into the world of the characters.
Being an indie author, book production is a weighty task.
So I’m asking a lofty question:
Will you consider pre-ordering a copy (or two) of NOLA: Undeaux through my Kickstarter campaign?

I’ve already retained a top editor and book coach, and several alpha readers.
Here’s my favorite announcement: the book designer, cover artist and audio narrator who helped turn my vision into a reality for the original NOLA are back on board for the second edition.
But I need your help to make this dream happen.
Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing crowdfunding platform. If I don’t reach my goal by July 13, I get nothing. No one pays into it.
Which means NOLA: Undeaux doesn’t happen. At least not yet.
But I know that won’t happen.
Because I know in my gut, more than I’ve known anything in my writerly life, that this rewrite is supposed to happen.
It’s supposed to happen now, and it’s supposed to happen through Kickstarter because y’all believe in the story.
Because this rewrite process is a story in itself.
